Sorry it's been so long...

Sorry it's been awhile since I've blogged! We are 2 weeks away from the big move...ahhhhhh!!! We are now running around trying to finish all of those last minute things and PACKING!!! Luckily we have some great friends and AMAZING family.

So we are about to close on our house here and after TWO trips (one just Mommy and Mackenzie DRVING in ONE day) to Atlanta, we have a house there! We will close on our new home in 2 weeks! It's been stressful, crazy, emotional, bittersweet, and blessed time. We could not have done this without the love, help and support of our family and friends! I cannot thank everyone enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The new house is move in ready, but we will want to make a few modifications down the line.  Instead of me having a craft shack, I will now have a craft cave! Yay for basements!!! I will actually be decorating it as well!!! I'm so excited about that! Before and Afters will appear as I go, but again be patient, who knows how long it will take. Unfortunately it is not the top priority when we move in.  Kitchen and a certain 3 year olds room are first up!

So this will be the last post until we get to Atlanta! Watch out Atlanta, MommyMeggieDesigns is headed your way!

New Adventures

This week has been filled with mixed emotions and hard conversations.  This morning our family announced that we are moving to Atlanta, Georgia! Dj has taken the position as the Director of Choral Music at Greater Atlanta Christian Schools starting August 1st.  We feel that this move is one lead by God, and that this is within HIS plan for our lives.  It has been hard keeping this a secret from those we are close too and work with, but that is how it has to go sometimes.  We will miss all of our friends and family here in North Texas, but know that with DJ's new schedule, we will be able to visit regularly.

I am on the hunt for a job myself (with things in the works as we speak) and am praying for God's guidance in all of this.  We are also getting our house ready to sell in hopes of buying when we get to Atlanta.  With so many changes taking place in such a short time, you can guess how our emotions have, and continue to be.  Again, we know this is Gods will for us and when we step back and remember that, it makes it all a lot less scary and wayyy more manageable.

With all of these changes, I will have to put some of my work and shows on hold while we get our life in order.  It is my goal to keep everyone updated on all of our adventures as we go along.  With getting our house ready to put on the market, my "crafting" is being taken on in a hole new way.  Less crosses and canvases  and more walls, cabinets, and ceilings.  We are also weeding out, sorting through, and repurposing quite a bit.  I foresee a garage sale in our not so distant future! Which will include some supplies from the craft shack.  (Did I mention we had to get everything ready to move?!?!)    We have wayyyy to much stuff!!!! A LOT needs to be sorted within the next few weeks.

Keep having craftastic adventures and remember to listen to what God is telling you, you never know where it will lead you!

I know it's been awhile

Hey friends, sorry it's been awhile since my last post! I will warn you now that this post goes all over the place!
This week some terrible tornado's came through our area.  I am amazed at how our house was untouched.  They seemed to have made a horseshoe around our section of neighborhood and I am amazed that our house only lost power for just over 24 hours.  Less then 1/2 mile from our house there is major devastation.  Please continue to lift the families who have been affected by this in your thoughts and prayers.

Before these storms, some new things have happened.  MLBDesigns has had rename itself for various reasons and is now MommyMeggieDesigns

Etsy will be up and running very soon! I am very excited for this to finally happen!

Crazy Birds and I have had a great time at some shows! We have another one this weekend in Bowie, TX. Since it's Easter weekend, we will only be at Bowie 2nd Monday on Saturday.

I have some great new pieces and have some great new idea's I can't wait to have time to create! Here are just a few of my new pieces!

More pictures will follow soon! Last time we were in Bowie I teamed up with a new supplier for my wood and he and I designed my logo out of wood!!!! So soon I will have hearts with wings and a crown to offer!!!! I look forward to sharing this with you!!!!

Exciting New Things!

Wow, this week has been a whirlwind! Mackenzie turned 3, I had another show (epic fail! but I'll get to that) officially joined forces with Crazy Birds and we are now having our 1st open house!!!

So I fully believe that things happen for a reason and that God has a bigger picture! He has fully proved that this weekend.

I was asked by my friend Shannon to join her and her cousin Jennifer at a vendor/craft fair (a week and 1/2 before the event! AHHHHH) I knew it was a short turn around but I also knew I would have a blast no matter what.  Mackenzie's birthday was the week before and she got sick as well, AND I didn't get much sleep at all before the event but we did have great product and had a great time with each other.  Too bad NOONE came to this show! I made 2 trades with other vendors there and one online sale from pics on Facebook, but no other sales! Like I said EPIC FAIL!

However, God knew what he was doing! I made a great new friend, became closer to a friend I already had and found that our stuff looked AWESOME together! So we decided to officially join forces! MLB Designs and Crazy Birds are going to start working together.  We have all of this great product from the show Saturday, so we are having an open house in Arlington to show all of our friends TODAY (February 20th, 2012) Next other (more established) shows.  We are creating an Etsy page and using their talent in sewing and my love of crafting as a ministry.  We will keep you posted on all of our adventures!

This is going to be a Great Craftastic Adventure!

Crazy, Busy, Life

Wow, the last few weeks have been crazy! Mackenzie is on the mend, but has had not only upper respiratory issues, but also an ear infection and the "I'm turning 3 on Saturday and have no concept of time so am cranky when I learn it's not my birthday yet" syndrome! Then let's also add 22 kindergarteners during a weather change and full moon (all of you teachers know what I am talking about!) But through it all I have had a great time reading all about CHA and seeing the great new products coming out. You really need to check it out, especially at The Little Blue House. They are AWESOME! I get inspired every time I look at their page and even more so in person.  I hate that they are as far away from me as they are.  I'm sure DJ and our bank account are glad about that though!

But now on to the BIG news.........drumroll please.......I'm doing another show!!! On Saturday, February 18th, I will be joining forces with Crazy Birds for a show at the Best Western in Forney, TX.  This is my 1st non-home show and I am excited and nervous at the same time! Because Mackenzie's birthday party is Saturday, I haven't had nearly the time to make product as I would like.  So for the next week I will be getting very little sleep and creating away! (Have a feeling I will continually be covered in stain, paint, mod-podge, and glitter!) Diet Coke and I will have a close relationship I fear.  (I love you caffeine!)

I will try to post pictures and tutorials as I get ready, but who knows how it will go!

I hope you have a Craftastic weekend, and let the creative juices flow!

Modeling Paste...Who Knew?!?!!

Had fun playing with modeling paste this afternoon.  Love this stuff!!! You can put it right on the canvas, over paper, over paint, and mix acrylic with it to make it whatever color you want or after it dries you can paint over it! Next time I will have to take pictures throughout the whole process, today I was so into the process I didn't even think about that! (Again I'm still learning)

Today's project was a 5x5 canvas that is also about 2" deep.  I chose to put paper down 1st before using the paste to make the cross. I added some flourishes while it was wet and let it set. When it was dried, I painted it brown, added a little mustard coloring, then used Stickles and Perfect Pearls to get a distressed look.  I embossed a heart and stained the whole cross and heart with a Distress Stain. Add some hardware, and paint the edges and here we are!

Can't wait to play some more soon! Happy Crafting!

Well I've finally plunged into the world of blogging.  Here we go!

So after lots of looking and playing with various techniques, I think I've finally found out how to add some extra texture and dimension to my canvases!  I can't wait to try them out (as soon as Little Bit goes down for a nap) I will post pics as soon as I finish them!

Let's start this adventure together!!!
